WRONG KIND OF SHINE

So there’s a big update for an MMO you like, or you liked in the past, or whatever. It’s an update everyone thinks is the bee’s knees based on all available metrics. People sing its praises, tell you how good it is, and so forth. So you decide to take the plunge, re-subscribe if necessary, get all ready to go, and start trying out the update. And then…

Wait, was that it?

Sometimes you see everyone falling over themselves to praise an update or a big change to the status quo and you find yourself just staring not understanding what the big deal was. But the actual execution leaves you completely cold even as everyone else insists that it’s awesome. So what’s a big MMO update everyone else loved that you just didn’t care for? Either one that you thought was just all right or one you actively disliked?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
