I hesitate to voice this, but it’s seemed to me that the MMO industry is sliding backward a bit when it comes to character customization. The MMOs that released in 2021 and 2022 didn’t blow me away in that department; my husband summed up one major new MMO as having characters that “look like they were a deliberate attempt by a competing studio to sabotage the game.” Ooof… but he’s not wrong.
So let’s drill down to talk about MMO characters, not their clothing and armor, specifically faces, hair, races, genders, heights, body types, and so forth. Which MMO has the best character customization as of 2022? Has your answer changed in the last few years?
