The Daily Grind: Who or what is the least-effective Big Bad from an MMO expansion?

Who taught you math?!

Over the various expansions World of Warcraft has had, there have been a number of different Big Threats in each expansion. Some of them have been better than others, but the worst by far was when Warlords of Draenor tried to convince us that the Horde with less power and less organization was a plausible threat after the original Horde still got pretty roundly defeated in the second war! It did not work well, especially considering that the end point was demonic backup showing up at the last minute because the Iron Horde got utterly thrashed over and over.

Expansion threats are, of course, always a bit on the tricky side; you know the big bad isn’t going to successfully destroy the world because the game has to still be there to play, and that would cause a problem. But there are some threats that at least feel plausible and entertaining and others that are… less so. So what’s the worst MMO expansion threat? When have you been told that you are supposed to be very scared of a villain that just does not land in the slightest?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
