The Daily Grind: What plans do you make ahead of MMORPG expansions?

Leafy bits.

The fact of the matter is that for most MMORPGs these days, the time between an expansion being announced and the expansion actually being available is measured in months. You do not have to figure out what to do before it releases in a couple weeks. But it does mean that you know all of the traditional expansion stuff is arriving. There are new tasks to take on, new things to craft, new areas to explore, and perhaps most importantly a ticking clock to get anything you hadn’t been worried about for a while finished up now while it’s all still available.

So what plans do you make ahead of MMORPG expansions? Do you set goals for your main character? Milestones you want to hit? Major achievements you want to finish up? Playtime goals and plans to scale back so you don’t burn out? Or do you just look further ahead and try to figure out when you will want to be taking time off from work in order to enjoy the expansion?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
