Embers Adrift enlists influencer to explain why content compression didn’t work out

Most of the time when MMORPG studios bring on a guest content creator or influencer, they want to have someone who’s generally friendly to the game to put it in as much of a positive light as possible — and Embers Adrift has certainly done that in its weekly community streams. However, in the latest episode of the video series, Stormhaven Studios actually had someone who was specifically against the content compression move that was proposed and then shelved.

CM Elloa’s guest for this episode is a YouTuber named Mujinn, and while he’s certainly not scathing to the game in his appearance, he also has no qualms about sharing his thoughts about the content compression experiment. According to Mujinn, the compression felt fine for some of the earlier levels, but after a point things got significantly slower, and he created his video in order to share ideas the devs might consider.

On the subject of ideas, Mujinn and Elloa took most of their time set aside to talk about content compression to pass around ideas on what could be done to smooth the leveling experience, such as making zones very specific to certain levels and requiring completion of a major quest or objective to get to that zone. Not too much is ultimately resolved in the video overall, as Stormhaven appears to continue to ruefully digest the community pushback, but the video waits below regardless for those who care to watch.
