WRUP: Lizardman Ronald owes me more than a thousand dollars edition

Speculation.

This is not a joke. Ronald [redacted] of Oceanside, NY, also know to his friends as “Lizardman,” officially owes me $1,280 due to services rendered, including but not limited to repainting his fence, moving his fridge from the main kitchen to his shed out in the back, and watching his dog for a period of seven days. He has repeatedly denied this and that means that this officially serves as notice for how he needs to pay me the money he owes me.

Failure to pay within two weeks will result in a very real and actual lawsuit being filed, you had your chance to avoid this, Ronald. I have a wide variety of lawyers, and one of them knows how to play the oboe. Do not attempt to plead for mercy in the comments of this week’s What Are You Playing. Pay me my freaking money, Ronald.

Bonus question: What game do you think you’ve replayed more than any other?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Aside from the usual, I’m going to have to fire up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to check out the final update.

I’m not including MMOs for the bonus, as MMO play is more of a habit or club/team thing, plus an MMO that ends is a tragedy. Although, if we’re talking versions, probably ArcheAge, as I can’t remember how many beta phases I participated in, plus I played in Korean, Japanese, and English. For single player games, I’ve probably played either Earthbound/Mother 2 or Chrono Trigger more than anything else. I’ve played EB multiple times as a kid (maybe every summer during middle school), and bits and pieces as an adult to practice my Japanese. CT is in a similar position, but it also has multiple endings, though I never played it in Japanese because I honestly prefer a lot of the localized changes for English speakers.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’m considering my options for the weekend, since we’re in for a dreary indoors-type of time. I think Lord of the Rings Online will win my time, not so much because of Umbar – which I bought but can’t actually access as my main’s a bit too low – but just to play and have some fun. Amazing, right?

This is a strangely hard bonus question since we’re always replaying MMOs. Probably World of Warcraft or Ultima Online, if I’m just counting how many times I left and came back over and over.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’ve elected to level up a Summoner in Final Fantasy XIV for no other reason beyond curiosity, so that’s probably going to be a primary feature this weekend. Otherwise there’s probably going to be more New World and Black Desert in my immediate future, as well as more truck delivery driving either in Motor Town: Behind the Wheel or Euro Truck Simulator 2. Or perhaps both.

In terms of MMOs, City of Heroes is easily my most replayed purely because the endgame of that game is about making alts and seeing how they work. As for single-player games, there aren’t too many that spring to mind; most of the time I’m one-and-done with those. I suppose Skyrim might qualify for most replayed, but that’s mostly thanks to total conversion mods.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Games to review and FFXIV stuff to do, but I’m not going to lie, this week had been insanely annoying. I kind of just want to rest and just have a nice weekend, but I’m not really sure how to get there.

My most replayed game is either Mega Man X or Final Fantasy, especially if you count in the remakes. I don’t really know why on either count; I think they’re both just dense enough that they require enough thought to be engaging, but just simple enough that I don’t really seem to need a full-on commitment for the next month or so.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I will be playing very little this weekend. Apparently Harry Potter Magic Awakened has become my current main MMO, which is really weird, though. I’m not sure if it can really hold on to much longer because the gacha and monetization is beginning to really set in as a pain. I noted before that it was bad, and they haven’t really changed anything other than I’ve leveled up to the point that even the leveling is slowing and I’m not gaining as much progress as I used to. Also the most recent story event included a dragon to raise. Except at the end you only gain the ability to gamble to buy the dragon, you don’t actually get it at all. The player base is understandably not pleased.

Bonus: I don’t really replay games often. For a while it may have been Rocket League but as I sit here I honestly can’t think of anything. For boardgames I can say Betrayal at Balder’s Gate comes out often.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I kind of want to try something new, but nothing’s really catching my eye, so unless I have a flash of inspiration, it will probably be more New World and Eternal, as ever.

Bonus question: If we’re talking the number of times I’ve played a game start to finish, it’s got to be Warcraft III. I’ve lost count of how many times I completed the base game campaign, but it’s a double digit number for sure. If we’re talking the most hours I’ve spent in a game, it’s bound to be WoW, with either StarCraft II or The Secret World in second place.
