The Daily Grind: What customization option do you wish your main MMO had?

When I first started working at Massively-that-was, it seemed downright luxurious to me that Lord of the Rings Online let you choose what your character’s armor looked like because it had a cosmetic override system. Like, that was indulgent. At the time, of course, this was far from the standard for some reason. We had to just look like whatever gear we were wearing in most games, like animals do.

These days, cosmetic armor is pretty common in MMOs to the point that it seems almost the default. It’s easy sometimes to look at MMOs and think we’ve got all the customization options we could want. But why not indulge and dare to dream? Many MMOs lack decent body customization sliders, much less tattoos and the like. There are a number of games that still have single-channel dye systems. If you like the mechanics of class A but the aesthetics of class B, you have to choose between them. What customization option do you wish your main MMO had, however unlikely or technically difficult it might be to add?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
