Update:Â The servers for both games are now back online.
If you’re a fan of Lord of the Rings Online or Dungeons and Dragons Online, no doubt that it’s been a frustrating weekend for you. The servers for both of these MMOs went offline early Saturday and are still down as of Monday morning.
Apart from periodically sending out “we’re working on it” notices, Standing Stone Games only said that it involved “issues at [its] data center which prevent the game from being operational.” Yesterday morning, the team explained that it “was some kind of power related event at the data center that has caused critical hardware issues.”
SSG Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini gave a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes frustration on Sunday when he tweeted, “To everyone who isn’t sorting through a messed up #*@(@ datacenter this weekend, I hope you have a great Easter/Spring weekend in whatever manner you can.”
Forced to be patient waiting for their MMOs to come back up, players responded in expected ways: With frustration, humor, bickering, and discussions about what they’re going to do when the servers return.
