Six years into Fallout 76 we still don’t have guilds or text chat, but Bethesda is working on a new feature that should keep players busy and engaged nevertheless. Currently, Bethesda is talking up its Milepost Zero update which will offer something new to the franchise: outpost management and caravans.
With Milepost Zero, players will head to the Skyline Valley region for a level 20 questline that involves adopting and nurturing an outpost in that area. Part of this effort involves sending out caravans, which essentially become escort quests across a dangerous wasteland. The studio hopes that players will help each other out with that guard duty, lending a more active feel to the world map.
“The beauty of it is that you can hop in on somebody else’s that’s already running and you can still get rewards if it’s successful, or you can go make your own and try to get folks to join you. It’s really cool, I like the dynamic and what it does for our players as they’re going through their daily schedule,” said Creative Director Jon Rush.
A fully stocked outpost rewards players with access to new items, such as the V63 laser carbine.
The update also includes a “best builds” voting system that’ll allow players to rate each other’s CAMPs and a legendary crafting system.
