Here’s how Tarisland’s first season will finally fix combo classes

Blessedly, Tarisland’s latest Frost Dragon Elegy post is absolutely devoid of lore, though you might be wishing it were just lore by the end of it. Instead, it’s entirely focused on how Tencent is gonna balance your favorite class. The studio says that it’s been adjusting classes all along based on player feedback, but now it believes that’s not enough: “[I]t requires comprehensive optimization on a deeper level, and even some reconstruction at the time of S1.”

Today, the team is talking about its plans to rescue combo classes; it plans to allow combo attributes to potentially trigger multiple hits with an expanded damage range too; it will allow all damage-over-time skills to benefit from combos (and ideally scale better too); and it will tweak special aptitude and emblem damage. Moreover, the Tamed Beast Ranger is due for some specific aid:

“The damage from animal partners constitutes a significant portion of the Tamed Beast Ranger’s DPS, but when a partner deals a combo, the partner’s attack is counted, resulting in lower damage. In the upcoming version, we will restructure the damage calculation for animal partners to enhance the DPS of Tamed Beast Ranger.”
