Rodent Rumble is a multiplayer mix of party games and battle royale arriving to Steam next year

What would happen if squirrels were armed with wacky weapons, fought in battle royale, or participated in party-style minigames? Players of Down Smash Studios’ upcoming new game will get to find out when Rodent Rumble makes its debut on Steam sometime next year, bringing with it a zany-sounding collection of multiplayer game modes and adorably violent tree rodents.

Rodent Royale will feature three unique game modes: the eight-player Block Party mode that offers up quick-hitting game show-like minigames, the more competitive Rodent Royale that pits 30 squirrels against one another, and Scurry Up mode that challenges players to climb to the top of dizzying platforming obstacle courses in the fastest time possible.

On top of these various modes, players will get to dress up their squirrel in stylish cosmetics and hang out and scamper around in a multiplayer neighborhood that appears to serve as a social hub or a bowl of absolute chaos, at least if the trailer below is to be believed. More information is promised soon but players can wishlist on Steam and request to join in on a playtest that’s scheduled to begin on October 11th.
