LISTEN GOOD

Music in video games is a funny thing. In the early days games could barely manage music and many didn’t even try. But these days? Video game music is a big deal. And MMORPGs are no exception. Sure, some of our genre’s early titles had less than memorable tunes, but these days games feature some pretty good soundtracks. Almost everyone loved WildStar’s soundtrack regardless of what they thought of the game. There are multiple MMORPGs with soundtracks by Jeremy Soule, a man who seems to be as good at making music as he is bad at fulfilling his Kickstarter promises and avoiding sexual harassment allegations. Final Fantasy XIV’s Soken is approaching legendary status himself!

In other words, there are some good tunes in our MMORPGs. But would you pay money for them? Sure, some games don’t have soundtrack albums available for purchase and others do, but the question is whether you’d buy them if they were available, even if they aren’t. So have you bought MMORPG musical albums, or would you do so if the ones you wanted were available for purchase? And if so, which soundtracks?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
