Fallout 76 celebrates six years of failure, triumph, and bobbleheads

Happy sixth anniversary to Fallout 76, which released on November 14th, 2018!

When it originally came out six years ago, Fallout 76 went from being incredibly anticipated and overhyped to a laughingstock of Bethesda-brand bugginess and jank. And while it deserved a lot of criticism and poor reviews over the first year or so, the studio committed to improving this online RPG over the next half-decade or so.

Gradually, Fallout 76 improved both in performance and content. The Wastelanders expansion in particular was notable for adding in NPCs, which was followed by CAMP allies, player vendors, underground shelters, a map expansion, and tons of events. This past year’s release of the Fallout series on Amazon Prime proved to be a huge boon for the player population as well.

“There’s much, much to show you on the horizons,” the devs said in a short video on Twitter this week, going on to point out that next month will see the release of the Gleaming Depths and C.A.M.P. pets. “As we head into 2025, keep your eyes on your Pipboy’s Geiger counter!”
