Is the weather cold enough for you where you live? Well, bundle up because Monster Hunter Now brought the frost with last week’s Roars from the Winterwind update, which opened up a new frosty region and new creatures to fight just as it promised.

This update adds a tundra habitat to the game that also brings on new beasts to hunt in the form of Tigrex, Lagombi, Volvidon, and Somnacanth, alongside some returning smaller monsters. As ever, what monsters appear at what times and locations varies, and will require some seasonal quest completion to unlock to begin with.

The update has also added a new weapon choice in the form of the switch axe, applied several customization features for Palicoes, and introduced a way to cheer on those in your friends list to give them a small buff. The mobile game is also gearing up for some New Year’s events starting December 23rd.

In other Monster Hunter news, the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds has begun to once more slowly stir the pot ahead of its February release by debuting a video narrated by actress Daisy Ridley. This vignette doesn’t really provide anything particularly astonishing, but it does generally lay down the lore that rationalizes why humans swing oversized weapons at angry giant beasties, ultimately circling to a vague promise of Wilds’ narrative. It’s set dressing, but some pretty neat set dressing, particularly for those new to the series.
