Today we’re continuing our traditional countdown of MassivelyOP’s weirdest MMORPG stories of the year, that year being 2024!
Coming in at #4 on our list is…
Diablo IV’s horrifying wholesome maggots charity thing
So once when I was a kid, I forgot to take the garbage out on time, and we got maggots in the can, and my dad actually made me clean them all out. Fam, it scarred me for life, to the point that even when I see the word maggots, I kind of freak out a little bit.
Nevertheless, we simply had to cover Diablo IV’s latest bizarre but wholesome charity social media promotion, which saw Blizzard donating maggots (yes) to a UK animal hospital that specializes in treating sick and orphaned wildlife, urged on by Twitter likes from players. The promo ultimately saw 25M maggots donated for the hospital’s birdies to devour.
Still, I’d rather like to burn them all with fire. The maggots, not the birds.
