Diablo IV runs a charity promotion that sends millions of maggots to feed recovering birds

We appreciate that the idea of maggots paired with our “warm fuzzies” tag might seem at odds, but there’s a really good reason why these otherwise disparate notions are being folded together: Diablo IV has begun a charitable campaign that trades likes on a tweet for maggots to send to hungry and hospitalized birds.

For every 25 likes that the linked post above gets, Blizzard will send 45,000 tasty maggots to Tiggywinkles, a UK-based 24-hour free animal hospital that specializes in treating sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife within the country. The drive kicked off early this morning and as of this writing has gotten over 67K likes — enough to send 3M maggots to the hospital. Yummy yum.

In other D4 news, series lead Rob Ferguson has said that he’d be on board with the idea of a Diablo TV series:

“That’s one of the things I really liked about Diablo as an IP, is that it’s got very relatable themes because it’s The High Heavens versus The Burning Hells, and that idea of Good versus Evil. I think that’s something that could translate very well to something like [television]. You know, I wish I had something I could talk to you about today. But in terms of just the general idea, do I think it could work? I definitely do.”

Readers might remember that speculation surrounding a Diablo series was first ignited back in 2018, when comic and screenplay writer Andrew Cosby sent out a swiftly deleted tweet about being in talks to run the show. A year later, eagle-eyed fans found a trademark filing for a Diablo TV series, but nothing has come of it since — and nothing new is coming out of Ferguson now, obviously.
