Some major late-spring developments are unfolding in Funcom’s Dune Awakening, including the slate of server merges (and closures) dated for May 26th. The game’s latest newsletter mentions this as well as this week’s Patch 1.4 that’s coming with a couple new maps and a tease of the Polar Cap map, which is a little further out.
Funcom shared some early concept art for the Planetologist class in the newsletter. There’s also a Q&A tacked on to the end of the newsletter that goes over some important issues, such as transfer issues in light of the server closings, the new Water Shippers-themed building pieces, and the difficulty of adding elevators into base building.
“Implementing elevators is tricky and much easier said than done,” the devs said. “It’s a feature we’ve discussed having, and we even have prototypes on internal builds. However, it affected performance too much and needs to be worked on further. Having this in game isn’t completely off the table, and it is something we’d like to have at some point.”
We will be deploying Update 1.4.0.0 tomorrow, May 19 at 13:00 CEST / 11:00 UTC. The expected downtime is 120 minutes.
