Everybody’s got an opinion on why Sony won’t play nicely with the other platforms, like the Switch, in regard to Fortnite, but how about listening to what Sony actually says? At an industry event last week, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida explained that in general, the company simply doesn’t want to “compromise” on the experience.
“On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that’s our belief,” he reportedly said. “But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform.”
Meanwhile, as Kotaku reports, the field in a Fortnite qualifier tournament this weekend at PAX West was partially decided by a coin flip – or at least the final qualifying slot was. Two players tied for 33rd place apparently achieved a perfect tie, which isn’t particularly likely given the criteria. Epic literally decided #33 – and which one of the players made it to the next round – with a coin.
