Have you ever wished you could look over the shoulder of someone as he or she playtested a game at a press event? This time, you can! You got to read about my hands-on experience with Amazon Game Studios’ New World yesterday, but now you can actually see what I was talking about. This is the exact footage of part of that play session. (Yes, the studio knows I am showing it — the devs are the ones who recorded it!) Sorry, it is sans player chat so you can’t hear the crazy quips and quibbles, but you can hear the game itself and feel the ambiance to get a sense of the gameplay so far. You also can see my character’s impressive muttonchops!
The session included a few moments of beginning life, moved on to a ghost hunt, then culminated in a siege. There might be a few instances of shooting our dev guide (you can’t blame us, he went criminal!), and possible an exploration of the death mechanic. I also tried to poke around a few different windows. Not all of the play was recorded, but there is a meaty chunk here to sample, so enjoy this taste of New World.
