The first season of Apex Legends officially begins today with the release of the premiere battle pass and the addition of the game’s first post-launch character, Octane.
The battle pass provides a hundred levels for players to progress through, each of which provides a shiny reward for completion, including new cosmetics, stat trackers, and more. There are two flavors of battle pass on offer: there’s the standard battle pass, which you can snag for 950 Apex Coins (about $9.50 US), and then there’s the so-called battle pass bundle (2,800 Apex Coins, or about $28.00 US), which is really just the standard battle pass with the first 25 levels already completed.
The new season also sees the introduction of the game’s first post-launch character, Octane. This cybernetic adrenaline junkie has the ability to sacrifice his health to bolster his movement speed, though his passive ability will allow him to slowly regen his lost health when he isn’t being shot at. His ultimate lets him toss launch pads on the ground, allowing his teammates (and anyone else who happens across them) to bounce into the skies for a quick burst of speed and mobility. Octane isn’t attached to the battle pass; he’s available for purchase for 750 Apex Coins (about $7.50 US) just like Mirage and Caustic.
