There has been a whole lot of focus on getting the smaller things right for Starbase, admittedly, which certainly makes sense in the “walk before you run” sort of way. This year, however, appears to be ready to ramp things up significantly in terms of scale and features if the game’s latest video is any indication.
Practically everything previewed in the video is immense, starting with a massive space station that gets destroyed in a large-scale space battle and ending with a crash landing on a huge city built on a moon. An announcement post explains that players will soon get to colonize planets and moons, arriving to the surface of these worlds with no loading screens. The devs at Frozenbyte promise that players will get to cooperate to create trade routes and grow their outposts to thriving cities, but also warn that these undertakings will a lot of joint effort and ingenuity to pull off. Of course, specific timelines for these features weren’t provided, but it’s certainly a grand vision.
The devs have also created a survey to gauge the interest of the playerbase as well as understand what hardware players have. Respondents can also leave their contact details in the survey if they wish to be considered for inclusion into the closed alpha.
