We could go to the movies and see a movie that you really want to see even if I’m not really enthusiastic about it and when you ask me how it was I can tell you it’s fine because I’m mostly just happy to be spending time with you.
We could go to a farmer’s market and I could fall in love with a bunch of decorative gourds and I could tell you “imagine if we lived together, would you like these gourds?” and maybe you would like those gourds.
We could go over to your mother’s house and I could knock on the door and remind her that I technically own her house and so I can come over whenever I want and she could tell me that this isn’t how that works or how anything works and then I could tell her that I’m friends with her child and you could act all incredulous like we’re not friends, you’re just hanging out with me to find out why I bought your mom’s house, and I could explain that I wanted us to be friends and you could storm off and sad music could play on my phone.
We could go scuba diving.
We could answer What Are You Playing.
Bonus question: What was the best item you ever bought on sale that you can remember?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go must happen. I… I fell off the wagon on Thanksgiving. So much food. I did an amazing job on the bird and stuffing, so I have no one to blame but myself. The cheesecake was my brother’s contribution, so I place those calories on his head. Also, some nice bonuses this weekend, so yay for that. Oh! And some Animal Crossing. It’s just so relaxing.
Man, this one’s tough. This may be kind of cheating, but I often wait for certain events on Fangamer. I’ve been a customer for years, so I half think they know my taste. One year, I “unlocked” a bunch of random “glitched” rewards (stuff with minor imperfections they wouldn’t normally sell). I got a Mega Man E-tank mug and a Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening windfish shirt. I actually had wanted both items anyway, and really had to look for the flaws, so I was super happy with them.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’ll be in Star Wars Galaxies Legends a bit – working on a big restock of my vendors! – as well as City of Heroes. I’m also eyeing Albion Online, though I think I will wait until the December reward season begins, and Astroneer, which my kids are hugely into again.
I can’t really think of the best item – I mean, it’s hard to beat cheap games on Steam that turn out to be hidden gems, right? Maybe it’s my farming plot in Lord of the Rings Online. I really love farming in that game, and being able to farm in my own yard surrounded by my own trees in my little valley just turned out to be a lovely perk.
Happy Thanksgiving weekend, friendos!
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Vibrating at a high frequency because Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is in less than a week. In terms of actual things I will be doing, I’m not totally sure yet. Probably some games I’ve grabbed on the Steam sale, if I’m being honest with myself.
I once managed to nab an adorable fox plushie for my wife as a present for like two dollars. It was a ridiculous coup and it’s incredibly cute. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): Not a lot of gaming for me this weekend. I’ve been playing a bit of Rocket League in my free time though. Nothing beats having only 15 minutes free but still being able to play a couple solid matches.
Bonus: I don’t purchase a whole lot. Perhaps my infinite gathering tools or copper fed salvage kit for Guild Wars 2.
Patron Pierre: I’m glad to be back playing MMOs again, after a long period without motivation to play online games. As my friends are playing MMOs, I’m joining the crowd in New World and Final Fantasy XIV and having a great time in both games. I also decided to finish Tomb Raider (the 2013 reboot). I played the game at launch but never finished it, stopping around 50 % progression, but I enjoy the gameplay a lot and have been thinking of coming back and finishing it quite often. Today, I’m at 75% and can confirm it’s a very good game indeed.
Bonus question: A pair of Nike Air sneakers bought half-price (they are quite expensive) more than 10 years ago; they were really comfortable for long walks. Unfortunately, they don’t make them as comfortable today and I never found such comfy sneakers since.
And you MOP readers, what are you playing during this Thanksgiving weekend?”
