And now you understand forks! What are you playing?
Bonus question: What’s the strangest piece of video game paraphernalia you own?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Ugh, so much work. I’ll probably give Orna some attention as I’ve noticed I’ve become one of the stronger (or devoted?) guild raiders, but mostly it’ll be Pokemon Go with friends on Sunday. Yay for Sandslash love! If only I also had time for some New Pokemon Snap though.
Weird at the time for Americans, but I got a Black Desert face mask in a goody bag (I believe a certain reader at E3 that year got the rest of that swag). As I was living in Japan at the time, I kept it as a plan B, but I never used it. It wasn’t until this pandemic that it finally saw use, so sometimes that weird stuff does come in handy.
Andy McAdams: Outside of the ‘catch-up-on-sleep’ game, I’ll probably be playing Final Fantasy XIV all weekend.
Bonus Question: Uhm, I don’t think I have anything particularly weird. My Figureprint of my World of Warcraft Rogue from back in the Wrath days, maybe?
Ben Griggs (@braxwolf): I’ve been into everything Star Trek lately. Stands to reason that Star Trek Online would eventually hook me in. I’ll probably be continuing leveling my federation and Klingon characters while trying to figure out exactly how 12 years worth of systems and builds with together.
I have a soda bottle labeled “M’iaq’s moon sugar soda” from a The Elder Scrolls Online event a few years ago. Knowing that M’iaq is a liar, however, I doubt the claim.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Guild Wars 2, of course, though I might dip back into Lord of the Rings Online. I miss it already. Who am I?
Definitely the money tree ArenaNet sent to press as a gag gift for Heart of Thorns. It’s still alive, too. No, it’s not really money.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’m hoping that this weekend I can join some guildies to do some Lost Ark endgame stuff and maybe take my first step towards the Tier 2 Abyssal Dungeon. Beyond that, I’m primarily going to scratch a Star Trek Online itch; I have a feeling that I can maybe get to that MMO’s endgame for the first time ever.
I don’t know if this qualifies as weird, but I have two wearable toy Buster Cannons (one classic Mega Man and one Mega Man X) and a wearable Samus Aran gun arm toy. They make me unnecessarily happy.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Some FFXIV and some Triangle Strategy for me this weekend, and that should pretty well do me. Looking forward to a low-key weekend, I tell you what. I could use it.
So while this was never a mass-market thing to the best of my knowledge, there were actually a few Rowsdower plushies made for WildStar that I got my hands on at one point during a press event. So I have a Rowsdower sitting on my mantel. It’s silly, yes, but I like it.
Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): Right now, I’m starting a journey through Dungeons & Dragons Online’s first expansion, Menace of the Underdark. This is all brand-new to me, so I’m pretty excited to see where it goes. I wouldn’t mind running a few dungeons in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic or dinging a new level in LOTRO, either.
Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): I will be playing catch up on housework. And also the current No Man’s Sky Expedition (Exobiology).
I don’t own any cool or weird game-related stuff. Alas.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I suppose this is another bad weekend for my gaming. Maybe it’s the coming of spring that has the whole family wanting to go out and “do things”. All at the expense of my gaming time. I have had a chance to dip into Guild Wars 2 a little bit but we still need to finish up the ice wars before I can do any End of Dragons gaming.
Bonus: I don’t really keep a lot of neat gaming things. We did build a couple of those Raspberry Pi portable gaming emulators at the start of the pandemic.
