The Daily Grind: Do you typically leave MMOs when your guild does?

A few weeks back, an MOP follower on Mastodon noted that she was happy about changes made to New World and that she’d consider returning – but that her guild surely wouldn’t, which would take it off the table for her too. And no, it’s not one of those things where a guild is telling people what to play but rather a situation where people want to play where their friends are, and if their friends won’t come ’round to an MMO they’ve abandoned, welp, that’s that – it strikes the game off the list.

When this happened to me in the past, I just played multiple MMOs – the one my guild was in, and then the sandbox I actually wanted to be playing on the side (hehe). But there are some games where that just won’t work, where you really need a solid crew to get through.

Do you typically leave MMOs when your guild does? Or do you choose your guilds around the game you actually want to be playing?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
