The Daily Grind: Do you want to care about World of Warcraft… but can’t summon the interest?

Eugh.

Back at the start of September, one of World of Warcraft’s most prominent YouTubers wrote a rather armor-piercing question for the community. Bellular asked, “Why are you finding it hard to care about World of Warcraft these days?”

Hundreds of answers later, the only consensus answer is that many fans are, indeed, facing a dearth of enthusiasm for their once-favorite MMORPG. I can identify with this well. I have a strong history with WoW and fond memories of the game, yet every time I go back to retail, my interest evaporates so quickly. It’s only in Classic that I’ve really engaged in the past few years, and even that is like gaming on borrowed time.

Do you want to care about World of Warcraft, but you can’t summon the interest right now? What’s killing your enthusiasm, and do you ever foresee it returning?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
