The suggestion that players of Age of Water are facing a challenge is pretty obvious in the title of the multiplayer game’s latest update. After all, it’s literally saying they’re going Against the Tide. The question then becomes what those challenges are, and the answer would appear to be “lots of them and they’re boat-shaped.”
Last week’s content patch has added new story content that closes the narrative of the game’s first season and leads to a confrontation with its main villain, along with four new massive boss fights for the antagonist questline that feature distinct weapon loadouts. There’s also new characters to meet and a chaotic-looking defense of the main hub of Three Whales to take on.
Speaking of loadouts, the update has also added three new ships and introduced new ship modules including a drone launcher to make gathering goodies from the ocean easier and new enhanced weapons. Other features of note include more repeatable PvE and PvP quests for late-game players, increased XP gain for taking on large ships, item and building creation now being instant instead of timed alongside a significant reduction in ship repair time, and an array of fixes and adjustments.
