If you remember that Bungie is working on a game called Marathon, you probably remember that it’s an extraction shooter set in the same universe as the three-part FPS series released ages ago (which can be played for free on Steam right now), a fact that either means nothing to you or disappoints you. But if you’d like to know more about the game, director Joe Ziegler has a 10-minute video available now in which he… explains more or less exactly that, but using more words.
We’re only exaggerating a little; Ziegler does not show off any gameplay footage (and does not claim he will do otherwise) but explains what it means to have an extraction shooter and the barest bones of the original Marathon’s setting. If you’re looking forward to the game, this is a glimpse behind the scenes as its development continues, but it likely won’t tell you much you can’t suss out just from the basic premise that Bungie is working on a game called Marathon.
