Warframe is ‘retiring’ premium crafted armor

It’s the end of an era for Warframe crafters. For reasons unknown but that probably rhyme with “martificial schmarcity,” Digital Extremes is retiring three craftable suits of armor into its untouchable Prime Vault.

Starting March 24th, pieces for Frost Prime, Latron Prime, and Reaper Prime will no longer drop in the game. These prime warframes boast different designs and additional slots and bestow mastery points. This event has the community concerned that the team might yank additional gear or be pulling warframes in order to sell them at a later point.

It is a really weird decision to make, nobody could give a precise answer on why they are doing this. We will see in time what will happen. Weird…

The worse part is that I need a Nova Prime Helmet to rank up in Suda. :(

Enikuo The Warframes themselves are not that much more powerful then the stock ones. They’re better, but you can still get by on the harder content in a stock suit. The weapons though, those are more skewed because of the way the mod system works for them. Since you can make an otherwise crappy gun into an pretty alright one, and in the case of a Latron Prime, you can turn what’s already pretty amazing into the finger of God’s wrath.

Sharpxe Well, they said they really want to redo the Void, so they might just be pulling these out for now until they can fix it. Since the Void’s loot tables are already completely full.

They should just make these items only obtainable from the “Orokin Dialect” vaults. Or some other new way to discover “old” frames. Make it interesting; and that may be their plan at least, to make old items obtainable through a new means they’ve yet to announce. One can hope they keep the trend of, “If you’ve got money, you can have it all now, if not, you just have to grind then wait for craft times.”

Looks like it’s time for even more grind.

Mostly I just wanted to thank you for my new favourite phrase, “martificial schmarcity.”

Warframes have their own unique powers, flavor, and stat balances, which (to me) makes them similar to classes in other mmos. They are also described as more powerful versions of those warframes. It seems like what they’re doing would be like Aion not letting warriors ascend to templars anymore, while still leaving templars in the game. It’s weird.
Maybe Warframe will have a rotation or something. It worries me because I’m new to the game and still leveling my first warframe, Mag. I really like her and hope I get her prime version before she’s removed too. Although, being worried about it dampens the fun I was having just playing the game :(

Massively retired doing research long before, a deadly precedent to set that will change future mmos.

cyanhide Warframe is actually free to play with a cash shop. The big selling point for a lot of people is that every single Warframe and Weapon is (or was , considering this move on their part) obtainable from gameplay, through a combination of running missions, Clan research labs, and ‘End-game’ content.
