Riders of Icarus has officially launched today; check out the launch trailer

Nexon and WeMade have formally sent Riders of Icarus into the pool of launched MMORPGs as of today.

If you’re thinking, hey, didn’t that game already launch, it’s probably because you’re remembering that it soft launched almost exactly a year ago on July 6th. Since then, however, the studios have updated the game’s interface, crafting success rates, cosmetic system, world boss quests, coin rewards, and dungeon loot drops.

Played a ton at soft launch and the game was fun for a bit, but it quickly turned P2W with dungeon resets and taming success chance buffs. GM Manipulation in the community ultimately killed it for me. A cheater guild got banned then reinstated at level 6 for free. At one point Gm’s were actively engaging guilds in pvp with pure immunity.

They also watched guilds in PvP to make sure guild alliances were not formed to trade PvP objectives bonuses because the game design didn’t factor in players aligning together. It felt like Nexon GM’s were a bunch of high school kids with their own Counter Strike Server abusing their playerbase.

Got to level 9 before I was unable to continue the main story quest because of a bug.

I jumped back into this a couple weeks ago. I was unimpressed when it soft launched, but it is so much improved now. Runs better, combat is more fluid, Ui is great, snd I found myself really having fun.

And see I just cleared it off my PC in a Post-Steam Sale Games Purge.

Yay, new game! Download the launcher, install, download the game, let’s check it out! Ah, free to play! Means I’m gonna spend lots of money on it! Uh? Can’t run in my region? Alright, good luck with the great business strategy, see ya!

Moolarurka .

Guess that leaves you with Warcraft ,Guild Wars 2 ,FF14 or Elder Scrolls Online because apart from a few older mmos and a few niche mmos nearly every other mmo is free to play in some shape or form .

If you like taming, raising, and riding pets (not sure about eating them), you may want to play this game. However, every time I tried to get myself into it, it felt stiff and slow and talking to NPCs was a excruciatingly dull whether it was a vendor or a questgiver. Given that impression,
and since the game’s based on quest hubs and running errands, I was not ultimately won over.

Unless they changed it, what got me is that I couldn’t fly right at the get go (after the prologue). I figured I could do it when I’m more leveled up but I didn’t want to wait that long lol
