Black Desert launches Savage Rift patch, back-to-school cash-shop promo

Savage Rift is live in Black Desert today as promised; it’s the co-op tower defense minigame in which teams of players will protect the Sealed Tower from enemies coming at ’em in 25 waves that increase in difficulty.

There’s more to today’s update, however: Kakao is also kicking off a “back to school” event, which is cute given that the average gamer and MMO player skews well into his or her thirties. Nevertheless, the event is essentially a cash shop bonus whereby many items are discounted and lockbox purchases will be accompanied by extra goodies, including cash shop pearls.

Check out the complete patch notes on the official site and the Savage Rift trailer down below.

Did you mean Pearl boxes, not lock boxes? pearl boxes are the items you buy that hold pearls, the cash shop currency, with dollars. there aren’t any lockboxes, as are generally termed as needing a key to open and having a random item from a list, usually with a few low % desireable items. BDO may have a lot of things people term P2W, but a least you can outright buy them.

What was the latest class released? If i remember it was a hand/fist fighter… has the female version of that class been released yet?

Not yet, maybe December. People expected it this update but that didn’t happen.

As I said before was really looking forward to this particular game mode.

It’s the start (well not technically in KR’s schedule of releases) of much of the group content that we complained the game lacked at release. Much of NA/EU’s feedback was the game lacked group content at all and was almost always best to just solo grind and this line of content (along with much of Kamasilvia) attempts to address more group oriented activities in the game.

Always nice when Developers listen to feedback!

Is this a good EXP alternative to the numbing grind rotations of things like sausage? I might have to pick this up again forreal when Mystic is released..

Before the game launched Korean players have said it lacked group content and pve. Prob only listening now with cash flow from NA/EU, i mean it ahs been like what 4 years ? ( since game launched in korea) . NA/Eu really should have a different version from korea, so stuff like horse training wouldnt rely on having to have your comp online. ( which is a gimick becuase of pc bangs in korea cahrge by time or something like that)

Savage Rift sure does look interesting. Implementation is awful though. I have no clue what PA/Kakao were thinking.
