Fortnite teases Halloween event, lists development projects in the works

The development train for Fortnite isn’t slowing down, with the studio posting a long list of projects that its teams are currently tackling. For those who don’t have time to peruse the full rundown, some of the more notable line items include voice chat,

In community news, some of Fortnite’s players have reported that the studio has overturned accidental bans and compensated affected individuals for the bother. After seeing the compensation, some voices wished that they had been mistakenly booted.

The team also teased Fortnite’s Halloween event in its most recent dev update video. Apparently this will be “quest-driven” featuring eight new heroes, two new weapons, and an additional biome called Hexelvania. More details will be forthcoming next week.

This game cracks me up. They spent all these years building the damn thing, it came out in early access and nobody liked it.

So they emergency turned it into a Battle Royale game and now its a huge success.

Most of the notes here are about the Co-Op mode, not Battle Royale. This big awesome Halloween story event is the normal PvE game not the free PvP one. They didn’t “turn it into” anything, they added a PvP mode while still having the same full team working on the PvE side that always has been (they took a completely different team and gave them the PvP mode).

Nobody liked it? Hordes of people play it each and every day, a great many people love it. And the game isn’t even officially out. It’s far from actual release.

An enormous amount of things that the initial players complained and rage quit about have been completely changed now. You have chances to get the very best equipment in the lowest Llamas now. You get all sorts of free Legendary Heroes just playing events. You get far more resources to upgrade with just playing the game. It is constantly changing. They told people it was an initial release and was changing and they needed feedback. They’ve been listening and changing based on that feedback just fine. It’s on track to be an incredible successful game once the PvE side is actually finished and released for real. You have no clue what you’re talking about *at all*.

“Huge success”…..the BR mode is F2P with almost zero monitization unless they’ve just recently changed that. Popular, sure; successful product, not so much.

The funny thing is that Epic isn’t making a dime off of the FUBG players yet. In comparison PUBG is still rising in popularity.

nobody liked it? it sold 500.000 copies just on pc. It sold good on consoles too.

Epic is better at making engines than games, always have been.

Haven’t played this since it came out , cause of those bullshit loot crate progressions. Did anything change since then? Might play the Halloween event.

Actually a lot changed. For one you get Water all over the place rather than barely scrounge for a little bit of it. There was a bug causing people to keep getting earlier resources in later maps, so you get the resources for your higher equipment more often now in later maps. You can pull the best weapons from the smallest Llamas (though very rarely it still does happen now).

The last event let people get tons of tickets that they used to draw free Llamas and many people got free Legendary Heroes because of it. The new one you get less tickets but you still get them often enough and you just play their events and are able to draw Legendary Heroes now. The Halloween event is going to be something special.

One of the best weapons of the game was able to be earned in the previous event for free, though the current event right now the weapons are pretty lame.

It is a good deal changed but it’s mostly new players who will see this, as they’ll be doing all the maps for the first time and getting the boosted rewards right from the get go the first time through.

There never has been “loot crate progression” however. You’ve always been able to earn everything in game without paying, and if you were too blind to see that you may not be happy with the changes so far either. There was never a pay wall. You always could earn everything just by playing to progress, even though it was a pain in the behind grind before (it’s somewhat less so now).

You may want to still wait. It changes all the time more and more and might not be to your liking yet. If you’re not there to give feedback and deal with Early Access issues of a developing game you shouldn’t be playing yet as it’s far from done still.

You do miss out on getting a lot of free Legendaries *early* and stuff from events they do, but they’ll be doing them all again in the future anyway so it’s not like you totally missed your chance. After the Free Release of Co-Op they will play through every event they’ve done so you miss out on nothing to wait if you were that bothered by the way the game was set up.

Being that you claim there is Loot Box progression you probably won’t be that much happier yet and I’d suggest waiting until the 2018 release for you. You definitely don’t seem like someone there to give EA Feedback but just to play a finished product, which it is not yet.

Not enough has really changed, no. That and Horde Bash has a completely separate progression system for some reason, yet the grind gets so horribly dragged out in the normal game if you aren’t doing the events.

Items being mainly about pinatas is still a thing, but they’ve made it so that the same schematics you’d usually get from these are available from drops at the end of games as well, with a greater chance depending on how good your end-of-game chest is. This was not the case when the game initially released. Events have had heroes and rewards available from quest completion in a more comprehensive way than the base game has; apparently the idea is that the base progression arc is meant as a background to a more-or-less constant stream of events, rather than being the main source of items in and of itself.

Further, they’ve spoken about a method by which players can affect the items they get, farming towards certain items, although this hasn’t been put into place yet; they expect this will come in December.

I haven’t been playing as hard as I was at launch; I still enjoy the game, the moment-to-moment is excellent, but I’m mired in the middle of the God-awful questing malaise, which I always get to when a game has way, way too much un-content between ‘start’ and ‘endgame’. I fall over in the middle of every FFXIV expansion for the same reason; endgame is where the interesting shit is, I’d universally rather just be in the place where my actions aren’t literally worthless.
