If a new legendary reward track, mini-underground zones, and a supporter pack isn’t enough to sate your hunger for new Lord of the Rings Online content, SSG hears you. We don’t know how it hears you, but it does. Probably through Alexa. In any case, the studio announced that as part of Update 40, it’s going to be activating a new quest every week starting this Wednesday.

The studio said that this quest series is for any subscribers or players who purchased the Beneath the Surface quest pack: “Beginning on May 22nd, 2024 and unlocking every week for two months, new quests in the Tales of the Kindred series will take place in the city of Umbar Baharbêl and the passages of Umbar-môkh beneath the surface. New quests will become available from a member of the Kindred every Wednesday at 10:00 AM Eastern (-4 GMT), beginning with Khôltekh the Cunning on his dais in Dâr Laja, the Meeting-hall of Umbar in the Upper Ward.”

This isn’t the first time that LOTRO has experimented with a time-gated storyline, as the MMO ran a one-year storyline in weekly segments back in 2015 starring an unlikely Hobbit hero named Bingo Boffin.
