The Secret World extends its multi-issue sale to veterans, throws week-long event

Nobody likes getting cut out of a good deal. When The Secret World announced that it was selling a generously discounted “enhanced player experience” pack for new players this week, veterans felt rankled that they got the short end of the sale stick.

Fortunately, Funcom’s extended the sale so that it includes all players, including both newbies and vets. For current players who already have the core game, the E.P.E. pack sale bundles Issues #5 through 8 for $20. You can access it under “special offers and upgrades” on your account page. The sale ends on March 31st.

The Secret World is also holding a new golden week event through April 1st with double AP, the golden golem world boss, and various discounts.

That is somewhat a misconception. The golden golems are only a good source of AP if you have access to all the zones and the kill missions are not devastating / very hard. “new” players often qualify for neither.
My dragon has 4-5 in all talisman and equipped weapon skills and receives 100k XP .. for 4-5 AP each time. Since SP are not accelerated at all with double AP weekends, the ramp-up time is considerable.

Estranged ogged451 syberghost These types of events provide new players with a way to get a LOT of AP/SP quickly.  It might not be the most exciting thing to do but if you are desperate for AP/SP so you can fill out a build, this helps.  Just make sure to type /chat join Event to get announcements of where the Golem is.

With the Blah blah blah comment I can see why a dumbed down experience would appeal to you . I imagine its about all you can handle .

fishtempura RooWoods Well if you make something a lot simpler then you can expect people to refer to it as being dumbed down . Its not a superiority complex at all its just that I have seen from prior experience when a developer does something like EPE or NGE or streamlines a game you can be pretty certain its a start of a slippery slope if you are someone that likes some challenge in a game . The argument I have made in the past about TSWs EPE is given the nature of how the game is structured that it could have been possible to offer two difficulty modes one for people who like a casual experience and one for people who wanted the tougher original TSW experience .

Also I have stated that I am not actually against there being a learning curve that makes earlier levels of the game easier for players but I am against one that is so poorly thought out . What has happened with EPE is that now the majority of the games content even in areas like Transylvania which are essentially end game ( or intro to the endgame as some people describe ) have been made unchallenging too .

So what Funcom have done is offer new players a game that they can breeze through within a month or two only to find that when they get into Tokyo that they will be faced with a game they find too difficult for them . So essentially the type of people that would have rage quit in blue mountain will now rage quit in Tokyo instead because there is no well thought out learning curve .

You only have to look on the Funcom forums to see that the EPE is not supported by many long term TSW players . It really is similar to the much maligned Star Wars Galaxies new game experience in many ways .

My advice to anyone out there who doesn’t like an extremely easy game experience to stay clear of TSW now .

Arcsine Syppi Polyanna He’s a free portal, you add him and use the meet up option. That’s why he’s there. Yeah I don’t know either.

Polyanna I can’t be the only one who’s mildly disturbed by that image though…

Syppi Polyanna Let me guess, Arcadia? That guy on the right has been dancing in front
of the London portal every night. I have to keep my head down and avoid
eye contact every time I walk by him.

RooWoods every time there’s news about TSW  you and AvatarOP lament the “dumbing down” and imply the majority of TSW players who are enjoying themselves, new and current, are stupid. That kind of superiority complex is very interesting, I’ve really never seen an equivalent in more “casual” players…
