Shroud of the Avatar highlights zones, player-made music

Shroud of the Avatar’s latest weekly update is a meaty deep dive into everything from the fantasy sandbox’s musical system to its zones to the exploits of its dedicated community. One of those community members, YouTuber Eniko, put together both the ABC and MML code library that SotA uses for its music system as well as a video that showcases said music system. You can see that clip after the break.

Elsewhere in this week’s Update of the Avatar, there’s a look at the elven settlement of Vertas courtesy of several screenshots, as well as the port of Etceter, with more of the same.

I am not sure why, but this video reminded me of another type of music with an old skool twist.  The yunguuns will have no idea what these things are.

PaganRites It seems to be a pretty big hit with the players.  And given that nearly all the in-game music was created by the players, I can see them making 8-bit versions of those songs or even original ones.

rottenrotny Just imagine you’re listening to a Monty Python skit and it’ll be more fun.

NobleNerd Depends also on pitch and tact. If you listen to the Ultima one it becomes the most obvious.

The synth sound still remains at the core, tho.

This video mainly reminds how glorious 8 bit and 16 bit music from Japan used to be. Real art.
