Hear the first music track from No Man’s Sky

Wonder what you’ll be hearing while you’re exploring the near-infinite universe of No Man’s Sky? Work has completed on the soundtrack for the upcoming game, and you can go ahead and sample the first music track right now.

The No Man’s Sky soundtrack was composed and recorded by UK instrumental band 65daysofstatic (no, we didn’t make a typo there). The score will be a blend of original music, soundscapes, and raw audio, totalling 16 tracks. The band is calling it an “overwhelming sonic experience,” so use that as fuel to make whatever jokes you want in the comments.

While the album won’t release until the game does on June 21st, you can pre-order it. The prices range from $12 to $60, depending how deluxe and vinyl you want to go. Oh yes, it’ll be on vinyl. Give the first released track, “Supermoon,” a listen after the jump and let us know what you think!

IDK, looking for more ambient, non-percussive sounds in a game like this…..

Karl_Hungus No Person’s Sky just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

This game hasn’t really interested me, but this track is pretty nice. I might pick up the soundtrack by itself somewhere down the line.

This seems like a good time to recommend my favorite progressive band and song IQ – Ryker Skies which would also be a good track for this game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2Cvtmlkz7M

Makovorn I almost always keep background music way down in game but I like this one. Though this particular track only works for fly through space for me. I hope they play different music for planets.

I don’t really like the soundtrack TBH. To me, it feels a bit “out-of-place” – can’t quite gel the visuals with this music. I know 65daysofstatic is one of Sean Murray’s favourite bands and in it’s own sphere, it’s good (if you’re a fan of the style of music) … but for this game … I dunno.

Karl_Hungus On that note, I am very disappointed SP studios doesn’t work any more for me. Flash vs HTML5 – it just won’t play in any of my browsers. “Install Flash”, yeah right…
