WildStar explains shift in dungeon reward philosophy

If I had known then what I know now, I... would have felt no different, really, but it might have mitigated stuff.

Don’t look now, but WildStar has incited an underground revolution involving its dungeon reward philosophy. In the upcoming Power of the Primal Matrix update, the sci-fi title will be making significant changes to how it awards medals, de-emphasizing speed and allowing for more wiggle room to earn the higher tier of medals.

In a post on the forums, the devs explained how this new format will work. There will no longer be a timer bonus for dungeons, and in its place will be a “base population” requirement to take out a certain percentage of mobs by the end of the run. All players will receive a bronze medal just for finishing dungeons, while silver and gold medals will need to be earned by minimizing deaths and hitting as many challenges as possible.

“Gold medals in Prime dungeons now require 9750 out of a potential 10000 points,” the devs said. “This functionally means a gold run allows two deaths and no more. The idea is to ensure that bad luck doesn’t immediately end a gold run, but that mastery is still required to do absolutely all the content and challenges under the time limit.”
