You read our articles every day. Most days, anyway. Why don’t you read our articles every day? Are we just some fling to you? Ahem. Anyhow, don’t you want to know what it’s like behind the scenes when we turn in our articles to be reviewed by the Edit-Tron 5000? Now you can learn! Here’s what it looks like with our articles before they get edited:
- Bree: You might not think it, but most of Bree’s work is just the lyrics to Led Zeppelin songs with every proper noun replaced with quotes from Bee Movie.
- Justin: There’s always a lengthy digression about the proper way to cook up hot dogs that has to be snipped out. We’re saving it for the cookbook.
- Eliot: Just, like, so much profanity about giraffes.
- MJ: Every single piece includes portions of a hidden ARG to encourage readers to buy a copy of Galaga for their home video game console.
- Larry: Lots of musical cues, but every single one of them is for Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen.
- Andrew: If you peek at the source code, there is a hidden field guide in Andrew’s work detailing common songbirds found in the northwestern United States.
- Brendan: Brendan refuses to use capital letters or punctuation until we ship him a fresh smoked ham. The monthly ham budget is significant.
- Tina: Flawless prose, but it’s about the Time Cube.
- Matt: Love letters to Missingno. Literal love letters.
And now you know! And knowing is… some part of the battle. Maybe, like, a tenth. Let us know what you’re up to in What Are You Playing, and enjoy yourself.
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): I got my house back in Asheron’s Call, so I may spend some more time in Asheron’s Call 2. I want to do more Pokémon Go, but a buggy patch has really been killing the game for me (I can’t imagine how people without a Plus have lasted this long!). Oh, and happy Chinese New Year! I’ll try to squeeze in some Overwatch for that black Tracer skin I’ll probably never use because I don’t play her!
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Hmm, I’m not sure; I am working on a The Elder Scrolls project right now, so I’ll probably be in one of those games, but for fun? Not sure. Might try Marvel Heroes’ new mess some more.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Mostly Final Fantasy XIV, if I’m being honest, although I’ll also be spending some time in Lord of the Rings Online along the way. Other than that, I have a novel draft to finish revising (almost there) and a couple of single-player projects I’m thinking of starting.
Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): One MMO that I haven’t visited for a while that could use a dose of me is Star Wars: The Old Republic. Might be worth subbing up for a month to see the story that I’ve missed over the last couple of expansions and to see if I might get hooked again. Other than that, more Gondor questing in LOTRO, working on my level 101 Druid in World of Warcraft, and dabbling in some Star Trek Online.
MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): I’m going to be spending time in ARK: Survival Evolved, a bit for personal time and for a project I have started. I’ll also be poking into Asheron’s Call 2 because time is running out! Other than that I might hop back into The Elder Scrolls Online some to play with friends.
Your turn!
