PBS Kids’ kart-centric MMO Kart Kingdom is sunsetting today after five years online

While a game like Kart Kingdom is not often touched upon here, it’s still a valuable place in the MMO sphere, especially since there are fewer MMOs aimed at children nowadays. Unfortunately, that number is decreasing by one more as Kart Kingdom announced its shutdown after five years of operation.

For those unaware, Kart Kingdom was PBS’ first foray into the MMO space, launching its self-called “free online virtual world/MMO” back in 2015. It had been a particularly active title in that span of time, counting over 14M players over the course of the game’s lifetime, according to a claim shared in a video from the title.

The game isn’t leaving without a bang, however, as there’s a quest where players can take a passport shot of their character and print it out to save for themselves, along with a blog post asking fans to share their memories and two more celebrations happening today, September 30th, at 3:00 p.m. EDT and 8:00 p.m. EDT.
