Hope you have your favorite fire characters ready, because Genshin Impact is headed to a frosty locale at the end of this month. Version 1.2, otherwise known as The Chalk Prince and the Dragon, is arriving to the multiplayer title on Wednesday, December 23rd, and it’s bringing a whole frosty mountain range with it as the region of Dragonspine opens up.

“It is a frozen mountain range south of Mondstadt and home to plenty of unique creatures, a lost ancient civilization, bountiful ingredients, rare artifacts, and recipes for multiple 4-star weapons. Covered by snow all year round, Dragonspine’s extreme weather also challenges every Traveler to survive the biting cold.”

Dragonspine will bring a variety of new things beyond snow-covered locations to explore. There will also be a Sheer Cold bar that players will have to keep an eye on to keep their characters warm in and out of combat, as well as a new seasonal quest that follows the character Albedo and his investigation into a sword with mysterious power known as the Festering Desire, which ends in the four-star weapon among other rewards. There are also several other events due to arrive to the game, as well as two new five-star characters to Wish for.

To get players amped up for version 1.2, there’s a lore-focused news post on the game’s website to read through ahead of Dragonspine’s arrival, as well as a trailer below that showcases the vistas, threats, stories, and events awaiting.
