While wearing this ring, you cannot be harmed by a hedgehog in any way. You cannot take damage from any hedgehog-related source. If a hedgehog hits you, it will not hurt. If someone has a sword named “hedgehog,” it can’t hurt you. If a hedgehog wields a sword, you should be very proud of it for following its bliss. That hedgehog is trying its best. Why are you fighting this hedgehog? This hedgehog has faced a great challenge just getting this far, the least you could do is be supportive of the hedgehog.
Convince the hedgehog to put the sword down. Talk about this with the hedgehog. Help the hedgehog train in the art of the sword so he can slay the duke who cruelly cut down his mother for a moment’s amusement. Knight the hedgehog. Share a tender kiss with the hedgehog. When the hedgehog reacts with shock and hurls invective at you, stand secure in the knowledge that even the emotional harm this hedgehog could inflict is protected against with your ring. What Are You Playing.
Bonus question: What was your favorite toy as a kid?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go for the Sunday incense event. C’mon perfect Beldum, I know you’re out there! Animal Crossing gets time again too since I’ve almost finished my house. I just finished reconstructing a bloody scene from Asheron’s Call and trying to figure out what to do with the final room.
Favorite toy is tough, but I’m giving a shout-out to Lucky, the hand-me-down plush dog my mom had. I wanted a dog so bad when I was a kid, I’d moisten Lucky’s felt tongue to pretend it was licking me. Eventually, though, that would wear away the fabric and mom would make Lucky a new tongue. I have no idea how replacement tongues that dog got, and no, it didn’t lead to me getting a dog.
Ben Griggs (@braxwolf): I will be rescuing citizens from burning stations in Elite: Dangerous and if time allows scavenging in Fallout 76, which I just installed this week.
I was definitely a huge fan of Transformers. I had this big white jet named Jetfire (Skyfire in the cartoons, I think?) and also all of the combaticons: five vehicle robots that could combine to form one giant robot, Voltron style!
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Living in City of Heroes lately, but I’ll dip into Star Wars Galaxies Legends too. I neglected my vendors the last few weeks and need to top them off so I can go back to neglecting them… wait what.
The first thing that pops to mind is LEGOs. We had a tremendous amount of them and spent so much time building cities with them. But on reflection, I’d say it was probably my bike, since no kid was getting anywhere in my neighborhood without one. Followed by a shiny new set of markers. To this day, nothing really matches the feeling of getting a new set of art supplies and an empty notebook full of possibility. I can only imagine how real artists feel!
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’m likely going to dip back in to The Elder Scrolls Online – I reupped my sub, I miss Wolf Time, and I’m hoping I’ll get in with Belghast’s guild to find friends to play with. There’s also people to rescue from burning space stations in Elite: Dangerous, and a spot of RP in Final Fantasy XIV.
I had a few favorites between G.I. Joes, TMNT toys, and Transformers. But my all-time favorite were my collection of Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars; I had about four big tackleboxes of cars at one point.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Probably some FFXIV and some single-player stuff, but I’m not entirely sure. I could use a nice calm weekend and thus I haven’t made final plans.
Anyone who knows me might assume that my favorite toy was a Transformer, and they’d be close… but my favorite toy was actually a stuffed dinosaur I named Hobbes whom I took with me whenever I could. He was just a big canvas stuffie I liked to cuddle. I still have him, and he actually lives in my TV room now.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): This weekend will consist of more Rogue Heroes with my small gaming group. It definitely has some ugly bugs in the multiplayer mode. In one case we finally got to the end of the dungeon but since the player with the key died, we couldn’t enter. It was a pain to restart but we gave it another shot and have been having fun. Other than that, I think I’m going to play a little of Project Winter. I found it on the Xbox Game Pass and it has a certain charm to it.
Favorite toy is tough. I had some plastic swords I enjoyed playing pretend with.
Pierre, patron: I’m getting my usual dose of Final Fantasy XIV and Persona 5 this weekend. But I’ve decided to change my gaming program slightly by playing Bioshock. I’ve heard a lot of praise for this game, and never took the time to play it. To be honest, I’ve been afraid to play it, as one of my friends told me that the most memorable moment of this great game for him was the first encounter with a Big Daddy, and for some reason my brain sorted this info out by associating Big Daddy with danger. The result: a profuse fear of playing Bioshock and my avoiding the game and this scary first encounter. We’ll see how it goes now that I’ve decided to play it and face my fears.
Bonus question: I think I don’t have any favorite toy. I’ve always been curious and liked to discover new toys and new ways of playing as a kid. So, no favorite one, just a lot of good memories with so many different toys. I think my main goal with toys was exactly the same as with video games today: have fun! What about you MOP readers? What are you having fun with this weekend? And more importantly, about this playing Bioshock thing, can I renounce my playing plans, please? I’m really scared.
