Turn-based 2.5-D MMORPG Broken Ranks eyes a release window of January 2022, promises to avoid P2W

Back in May of this year we reported on Broken Ranks, a remake of Polish developer Whitemoon’s long-running MMORPG The Pride of Taern with isometric world exploration, a turn-based tactical combat system, and seven classes that can party together and synergize attacks, all set against a grim 2.5-D fantasy backdrop. Now, after several tests, the devs are nearly ready to release the game in full, with a launch window of January 2022 announced.

“The end of the year was packed with MMORPG releases, so we decided that January would be safer. The exact date will be given at a later time, so follow our social media channels and our website. We want to once again thank you for you patience, a lot of positive words, and also your participation in the tests – your eagerness to play surpassed our wildest dreams.”

For those who haven’t been following this game closely or otherwise forgot all about Broken Ranks, the devs have put together an FAQ that outlines several features of the MMO. The FAQ also confirms that existing Taern players will be able to transfer their characters to Broken Ranks or start over fresh if they wish, and assures players that the game’s free-to-play model will avoid pay-to-win with an all cosmetics cash shop.
