The Daily Grind: What’s the greatest way an MMO ever trolled you?

I don’t think that cheeky developers can resist trolling players in the nicest of ways every once in a while. Personally, I find it hilarious and delightful when an MMO reaches out to tweak my nose and subvert my expectations.

One example that I was recently reminded of took place in Lord of the Rings Online’s Evendim. In this zone there’s a quest in which you have to find boars in the zone for a Hobbit. The goof is that, of course, there are no boars in Evendim, although the 30-minute timer puts the pressure on the newbie to prove otherwise.

What’s the greatest way an MMO ever trolled you? Do you like or hate it when a game messes with you a bit?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
