The Daily Grind: How long are you willing to wait for an MMO’s release?

A couple of months ago, The Ancient Gaming Noob ran a piece about Valheim – specifically, about how freakin’ long we’ve all been waiting for Valheim. You’ll recall it hit early access toward the beginning of 2021 and absolutely blew up, taking over not just the multiplayer survival space but the MMO space for a long time. It was good! It won awards. It deserved them.

But… it still hasn’t actually launched. As Wilhelm points out, the team is small, and it’s not as if it’s not doing anything, but the updates are slow, and launch isn’t expected any time soon. “Quite some time away still” is the official word. I have to wonder whether people are willing to wait indefinitely.

Will you? How long are you willing to wait for an MMO’s release?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
