I know there are some folks playing MMOs who hate MMO economies, who don’t want crafting to even exist, who don’t want any kind of economic interdependency or auction hall or vendor relating to other players. This Daily Grind is not really for them.

Instead, this Daily Grind is for the people who do engage in economic pursuits of one form or another in their MMOs of choice. I want you to tell me what you actually like! Do you prefer to shop at vendor stalls? Player-run stores? Auction halls? Direct trade? Do you want to know whom you’re buying from, or do you prefer the anonymity of a game-wide trading post?

Personally, I’m a vendor fan. I absolutely love the feeling of stocking my own personal vendor and shop and then venturing out into the world to shop at other folks’ storefronts. But I also love auction halls and have long argued that a good auction hall or vendor search is critical for stopping people like me from dominating the entire economy. But mainly, I just like low-stakes shopping!

What’s your favorite way to interact with your MMO’s economy?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
