This year, like pretty much every year since the dawn of the genre, has been pretty weird and surprising for MMORPGs. Things we expect are going to happen don’t while other things we don’t see coming blindside us. And then there are the utterly strange outliers, the sentences that we never expect to utter, such as “company writes completely fake testimonial about itself and slaps the MassivelyOP logo on it” and “Whoopi Goldberg yells at Diablo IV for a bit.”
