The Daily Grind: Do you worry about getting too old for MMORPGs to release?

As I start to give the oncoming approach of the age of 50 a long, hard stare, I’ve had a new, weird concern arise: What if I get too old for MMORPGs? When I was younger, it was enough to know that exciting new MMOs were on the way that were worth being patient. Now I’m looking at a ticking timer and thinking, “C’mon and get here already!”

It feels like we’ve been waiting ages for some of these games to come out, and the waiting goes on and on. But the truth is that I really do want some of these anticipated projects to come out while I’m still young enough to get invested and enjoy them for years to come.

Am I alone on this? Have you looked at all of the project delays and overly long developmental periods and wondered how old you’ll be, exactly, whenever this actually comes out? Is your own age becoming a factor for your internal MMO hype?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!
