haaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh

dang it hold on, hold on, hold on we need some kinda expansions announcement let me fish in my pocket. Got some stuff in here. Hold on. Cool. So the next expansion will bring you to… uh… Paperclip Island! It’s called that because… uh… farts. Farts. Wait we can make this work. It’s actually Papleip Island. But it’s curved. Like a paperclip. And your new class is… the… receipt for Office Depot chairs?

I needed a new chair, Marcus, do you want me to sit on the floor? The new class is to be announced, fine. Forget it. You all get three… copper… coins. Will you use those coins to… heal or destroy? Yeah, I like that. It makes it a moral conundrum and stuff. Ship it. Next What Are You Playing expansion is The Safeway Card Directive or some such nonsense. You know what I want right now? Some Big League Chew.

Bonus question: What do you consider your worst habit in MMORPGs?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Eggstra Work’s happening in Splatoon 3 so you know I’ll be there for that. Also gonna try to push leveling up in Orna, I’m so close! And of course, I gotta do the exercise games, especially Wooper Community Day, so I can burn off Halloween calories to make room for Thanksgiving calories.

My worst MMO habit is also my best: hoarding. My storage is always tight. Yeah, one day that weird resource may become valuable, or maybe they’ll add costume overlays for that sweet newbie hood, but you all know that most of the time, it’s just junk. Please forgive me and accept this rare potion that may give you 1-999hp plus a random effect awarded from the Oktoberfest 2001 event.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Guild Wars 2 and Lord of the Rings Online both have big updates coming out next week, and in fact I already bought the LOTRO one. So what am I doing? Seriously considering buying My Time at Sandrock. Uggg.

My toxic MMO trait is drifting away. Absence does not make my heart grow fonder. If life gets really busy and I don’t manage to log in for a few days (like vacation or illness or whatever), it can break my flow routine and I stop wanting to play it at all when I do have time again. I hate that.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): I’m a little bit undecided at the moment, but I’m still pretty sure that Final Fantasy XIV will be a primary feature of my gaming this weekend. Past that, I guess I’ll just take whatever whims and winds blow my way in terms of gaming mood.

My worst MMORPG habit, without question, is my inability to save in-game money. I am an unapologetic spender in MMOs, whether it’s gear, housing items, cosmetics, or dyes. Hell, even though I can make almost every dye in FFXIV, I still buy the stupid things from the market board because I’m just that thick.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): It hasn’t even been a week since FFXIV’s most recent patch, so aside from a game I have to review and continuing to cover BlizzCon this weekend, that’s going to be my focus. I would probably feel some incentive to do stuff in World of Warcraft for the expansion, too, if that wasn’t very clearly a year or so away.

My worst quality is that I’m a perfectionist! No, really, it kind of is. I place a very high premium on myself performing at my absolute best, and while I’ll definitely place other elements ahead of that. it’s always a driving force. I might want to make a very strange build, but then I want to make that strange build perform optimally, and I demand a lot out of myself, which can lead to my being really hard on myself.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): This weekend I’m trying to catch up on my Harry Potter Magic Awakened Halloween events and story achievements. They still haven’t slowed anything down and when they release some new content they release a ton. It’s still a bit overwhelming but the way to do it is to focus on one at a time. Although the Halloween stuff came out like a day before Halloween and is still ongoing for at least a week or two. Another thing they do right is show you a count down for exactly how long each event will be up, so there’s no question and if you missed it then say least you knew time was running out.

Bonus: my worst habit is probably the same as a lot of others, I just can’t throw things away. I keep all those old event things that really don’t do much but I can’t bear to part with.

Tyler Edwards (blog): Most likely my usual duo of New World and Eternal. Blizzard sent me an offer for about $40 off Diablo IV – I suspect they sent this to everyone who played the recent trial but didn’t buy the game – and I’m considering springing for that, but we’ll see. $50 still seems a little high of a price point for “Diablo III but slightly worse on every level,” but it’s just about within what I’d consider acceptable, and I am kind of craving some ARPG gameplay.

Bonus question: I often feel like I’m under a time limit to get all my in-game goals finished, even when I’m not, leading me to feel weirdly stressed and have difficulty enjoying the game. I think this mostly stems from years of playing subscription games and feeling like I need to finish them as quickly as possible to avoid wasting money. The problem’s gotten a lot better since I stopped playing sub games, but I still feel it from time to time.
