Did MOP’s Tyler nail his New World predictions laid out in Vitae Aeternum this morning? Well, it’s hard to say, as Amazon dropped a “what’s next” video for New World this afternoon – but it doesn’t include a complete roadmap.
“For what it’s worth, 2024 is a big year,” Amazon’s Scot Lane says. “We have massive expectations for the year and a lot we’re working on. The thing is, we’re going to wait a few months to give you a lot of the details because quite frankly, we announced the full roadmap last year for 2023, and we missed a lot of stuff near the end because the longer-term prediction is – it’s hard, especially when you’re adding, you know, big chunks of work.”
The video does outline some of the content coming between now and May, and then in May, the studio promises to lay out the plans for the rest of 2024 (it kinda sounds like the big news is being held for then, and given New World’s cadence over the last few years, we’d assume that means another expansion).
Obviously, in the near-future, we’re looking at cross-realm group finder, which was delayed and being carried over into 2024; there are also new artifacts, a new season trial, returning and updated events, a new seasonal event called Year of the Dragon (more on that one coming in a future video), continuing season passes and rewards, the completed main story questline, full gamepad support, performance improvements, and combat balancing.
