Fortnite’s expensive race cars are now slightly less expensive after players revolt

How much would you be willing to pay for a car in Fortnite? Besides $0 anyway; we see you, commenters. Epic Games asked that question of players, and their answer was, “Not $35, thanks, you absolute clownshow.” So the company is applying a bit of a discount.

The bundles in question provided in-game vehicles that could be used in Rocket League, Rocket Racing, and battle royale mode along with several decals, but those benefits were still too high for players: Now, the Diesel rare car bundle that was originally 4,000 V-Bucks is reduced to 2,500, while the uncommon Jager and Cyclone bundles have been discounted from 2,500 to 1,500. Those who already bought the bundles before these price changes will see V-Bucks refunds within the week.

Of course, while these discounts could be viewed as significant, they still are unsurprisingly just a bit different from the amount of V-Bucks players can actually buy; the smallest number is 1,000 for $9, meaning those who want the uncommon cars are basically going to have to buy two bundles for $18, while the rare car’s cost is now covered by the $23 bundle of 2,800 V-Bucks but leaves a pittance of 300 V-Bucks remaining – and let’s not forget that Epic Games raised the cost of V-Bucks this past October. Considering Epic apparently eats through money like Garfield eats lasagna, this news is either a welcome concession or a needed business decision.
