Lasuni is a 2-D browser-based free-to-play MMO that’s eyeing a return in 2024

Yes, you read that headline right; this is the story of a re-launch, though it’s also about an MMORPG that you may not have heard of before. It’s called Lasuni, a two-dimensional isometric browser MMO that’s promising social-minded PvP minigames, a main questline, house decoration, crafting, and farming. The game will be free-to-play, though there are plans to offer a VIP membership with some undescribed “premium content and features.”

According to an informational channel in the game’s Discord, Lasuni started life in 2008 as a passion project of developers Jason Bryan and David Stribling. The original title released with “nearly no features other than chatting” but was improved over the course of its first life. Soon, it had to be recoded twice, first in Adobe Shockwave, then in Adobe Flash, but with Flash being discontinued, the game was sunset.

But that’s about to change, as Bryan’s One Byte Solutions is bringing the MMO back this year after spending the latter portion of 2023 going through playtesting. “I’m thrilled to share that our collective efforts are steering the game toward a stable and polished state,” Bryan writes in an end-of-year address to fans. “I’ve been diligently working on incorporating all the base features that make up a truly great gaming experience, and your patience and dedication have been crucial every step of the way.”
